About this project
Architecture arose from the need to shelter human beings from the climatology. Later, aesthetics was added to this practical component.
Therefore, creating a ‘refuge’ that protects us from the exterior while allowing us to be in perfect contact with it on both sides is a really attractive idea. This is the premise behind the refurbishment of this house, which is open to the exterior through a back yard. In addition to this, natural light penetrates the interior through skylights and interior partitions crowned with glass that bring zenithal light to the entire space. The programme is divided into two heights, the lower one containing the day programme and the upper one containing the bedrooms and other night time uses. The back yard can be read both as a continuation of the house exteriorly and as an extension of the garden that culminates in a barbecue and a summer living area. And it is precisely this duality that allows the blurring of the limits between the architectural spaces.
